Robbie
Willmott first caught the eye of the Cambridge United Youth Development
staff in 2005 and his pace, eye for a goal and dribbling ability,
made him one of the most exciting prospects within the youth set-up.
Effective
for the youth team on either wing or in a withdrawn central striking
role, Robbie made his first team debut from the bench against Crawley
on 15th September 2007, and signed his first professional contract in December
that year.
After being mainly used as an 'impact sub' in 2007/08, last season Robbie was a regular on the wing and created and scored some important goals, including the last minute winner in the FA Trophy win at Histon. Contracted to 2011, he has started this season in good form with exciting performances on both wings and increasing effective free-kicks.
