The left-back featured in the friendly fixture on the same day that the first team completed an opening day 1-0 win League One win against the Cherries in the senior clash between the two sides.
Carter, who got a taste of first-team football earlier in the summer, is pleased at his progress ahead of his second season as a scholar, and watched the Addicks twice toss leads away in New Eltham.
Morgan Fox headed Charlton in front from a corner, and after the visitors levelled from the penalty spot, U16 winger Tobi Sho-Silva made it 2-1.
Bournemouth hit back again to ensure a share of the spoils, however, leaving Carter to reflect: "This pre-season we've been solid and have been playing well as a team.
"We've just been missing that quality in the final third to finish teams off. And we seem to be giving away goals in the last 10 minutes or so through a lack of discipline.
"I think that's three penalties we've conceded this pre-season, so we just need to concentrate more and try to see the games out."
On the goals, Joe added: "Morgan scored from a set-piece and showed real determination to get in there and win the ball.
"Tobi is a good pacy winger, and after a good cross from the left from Callum Harriott, he took the ball down and finished it well."
Nobody played more games in the U18 ranks last season than Carter, who turned out 30 times, only missing a full house of league games when Charlton and Crystal Palace pitched in two U16 sides to contest a fixture late in the season.
He featured in all three FA Youth Cup games, and was a surprise substitute in Charlton's first senior pre-season friendly of the summer, at AFC Wimbledon, coming on for Grant Basey midway through the second half.
He also played the full game as an Addicks XI defeated Bromley 2-0 later in the summer, and is looking forward to the new league season, which starts against Blackburn Rovers on August 21st at Sparrows Lane.
"It was a great experience to play in a first-team fixture and get the chance to show what I could do in front of the manager," said Joe.
"It was good to play so many games last year, but there is always room for improvement," he said.
"We seem to have gelled a lot quicker as a team this year and are a good-looking team this season."
Before Blackburn head south, Charlton travel to Arsenal on Saturday (10.45am) as their pre-season preparations conclude.
