The comprehensive agreement, which will see 2mb take over all commercial and media affairs for the striker, is a collaboration between Defoe, his mother and advisor Sandra, Blundell and 2mb advisory board member, Anthony Hamilton.
"I am delighted to announce that Jermain Defoe will join 2mb International Soccer Management with immediate effect," said 2mb CEO, Mark Blundell. "I would like to thank Jermain, Sandra and Anthony [Hamilton] for all their hard work and outstanding vision for the future. We look forward to helping Jermain realise his potential on and off the pitch, especially as we head to the 2010 FIFA World Cup."
Jimmy Carter, 2mb International Soccer Management Chief Operating Officer, will coordinate Defoe day-to-day, with Blundell and the 2mb advisory board, including Hamilton and Les Ferdinand, providing strategic counsel. Defoe will headline a small core stable of established and emerging talent, including West Ham Academy right wing back Miles Smith (17), Histon Town Blue Square Conference striker Craig Hammond (22) and Royston Town captain, left-sided midfielder, Luke Robins (20).
"I'm very excited to be joining 2mb," said Jermain Defoe of the agreement. "I've met with 2mb many times over the past few months and was very impressed by their passion, knowledge and contacts but also, by their vision for my future."
2mb International Soccer Management offers contract negotiation, supported by qualified sports lawyers; club relationship management; negotiation of commercial opportunities; management of player rights; access to financial and legal advice; and a whole range of marketing services, including PR, appearance management, media training and brand building. Any player signed to 2mb will be personally managed through their playing career and prepared for opportunities post-football.
